Would this be a good first time buy allround climbing harness? Is it good value for the price?
Yes, it looks pretty good for what it is and the value isn’t too bad either. The thing you need to remember is that you don’t need a fancy one with loads of fancy bits when you first start off, and as such you may find the number of gear loops a hindrance. Also, when buying a harness, or any other piece of mountaineering gear that you wear, it is vital that you try on a number before deciding which is best, based on which feels comfiest and fits the contours of your body. Don’t buy something based on the response of someone on Yahoo! Answers; whilst their opinion about what is good may be perfectly valid, their body type is probably differ net to yours. If I may, I will give a link to a company selling gear over the internet that I recently bought a basic harness off for when I take beginners with me. Most of the gear needs to be carried by me, so I have harness with 4 gear loops; the basic one has just one, which is fine. http://www.
