year old breakfast – do you give milk or cereal/solids first, and how much?

My son is 20 months and I’ve noticed he’s been doing the same thing for the past few weeks since his brother was born. I used to nurse him when he wakes up and he’d finish eating then climb down and point to the kitchen. There was no question that he was hungry and wanted solid foods. But since the baby arrived, he nurses longer (probably because the milk tastes better than the colostrum I was producing for the past few months), then he gets down and starts playing. He barely finishes his breakfast and we haven’t changed the amount so the only logical explanation we can come up with is that he’s drinking much more milk than before and therefore not as hungry. So what I’ve started to do is serve him breakfast a bit later and limit him nursing near meal times. For example, if he asks to nurse halfway through his meal I make him finish the food first then let him nurse. If he doesn’t want to finish the food, that’s fine. But he can’t nurse either. We haven’t completely broken the habit ye
