With Aetna dental plans you can receive 15 to 50 percent savings on dental procedures, major and minor. There are also discounts available for orthodontic (braces) and periodontal (gums) services. All of Aetna’s participating dentists have excellent credentials and operate under a quality management program.

    Aetna Advantage Dental – Aetna’s Advantage Dental is an individual dental insurance plan that consists of two different plans based on age groups. One plan is designed for patients aged 49 and under, and the other plan is designed for patients aged 50 and over. The Advantage Dental plans offer coverage for both basic and major dental services.

    Aetna Dental Access/Vital Savings by Aetna – Both of these programs are dental discount plans that do not qualify as insurance. There is no billing involved, co-payments or deductibles. The plan simply allows members to save on routine dental services as well as specialty care and major procedures.

    Using either plan is easy and members pay a low monthly fee once they join. The plans are available through a number of dental insurance providers other than Aetna. Depending on which provider is used, the monthly fee amount for either plan will vary, ranging from $7.50 to $7.99 per month for individuals and $10.50 to $10.99 per month for families. It is possible to pay for an entire year with some providers-$72.00 to $104.95 per year for individuals and $99.95 to $159.95 per year for families. Members save 15 to 50 percent on dental services from participating dentists and receive other program benefits as well.

    With the Vital Savings program there is a one-time sign-up fee of $15. The program is not available in Montana or Vermont. Some providers may offer group rates for Aetna Dental Access and Vital Savings by Aetna also offers a pharmacy discount plan and a vision plan which comes free when you become a member of the dental or pharmacy plan.

    Group Dental Plans – Aetna offers a number of flexible and affordable dental plan options for business owners and their employees. They also offer the Aetna Dental/Medical Integration Program for employees who require more intensive periodontal services.

    There are Network Only (DMO) and Network Option (PPO) Dental plans where employees select Primary Care Dentists from the dental network (Network Only) or choose any licensed dentist without a referral (Network Option). Aetna also offers the traditional indemnity (fee-for-service) dental plan for employers and the DentalFund plan which acts like a bank account set up by the employer with an annual contribution amount to pay for employees’ eligible dental expenses.

    The Aetna Dental Freedom of Choice insurance plan is Aetna’s two-plans-in-one hybrid dental plan. The plan allows employers the ease of offering one plan, but employees can choose between two different plans. It consists of a network-only plan and employees select either a PPO or indemnity plan option to go with it. Employees can switch between plans each month and they pay a blended premium rate.

    Aetna also offers Dental riders which offer enhanced benefits to an existing plan for an additional cost.
