This Spring of 2010, shoe trend is leading women to a new and higher level: the Double Platform.

 

Platform shoes have long since conquered the fashion market from the early days of 2009. And for many ladies, the higher the heels, the more fabulous they look. These shoes refer to the thick soles both front and back creating the elevated feeling as if standing on a platform, thus the name. The origin traces back to the times when women of ancient cultures wore these tall footwear to achieve the desired height and proportion.

 

Double platforms are as high as four centimeters front heels and up to five inches back. Sole materials vary from cork, plastic, glass, rubber, wood and the newest – resin, for the ultimate glam look.

Podiatrists have warned women of the long-term effects of wearing high heels which can lead to bad posture in the long run due to the unevenly distributed body weight on the balls of the feet. But the artistry and the designing effort put in these "killer shoes" are so exquisite, they are absolutely hard to resist.

 

There is no doubt these heels make women look elegant. Because of the extra factor that gives the illusion of legs that seem to stretch forever, these heels are a must-have in a woman’s closet. With more and more international shoe designers popping up like mushrooms in the wild, the influence of the platform pumps to all women is needless to say, huge. Hence, the popularity.
