Vegans who don eat junk food, or sugar… do they have a lower body fat percentage than meat eaters?

If you’re going to directly compare people that are identical except for if they eat meat or are vegan then no. Someone who avoids junk food, excess, is in good physical condition, etc. but is eating meat will be pretty much the same as an identical vegan. Remember that fat is a requirement in our diet, so as long as you are meeting the requirement and not going over it you are good. The issue comes in with the excess and how it is easier for a meat eater to reach that excess if they are having too much of it. That and vegetarians/vegans tend to avoid the junk/processed food more, so it is harder for them to reach that excess. What it really comes down to is if someone is having too much of a certain kind of food, not if they are eating healthy and differentiating between what they exactly eat. In the terms of your question you already accounted for any differences that occur in practice of veganism or meat eating, so you are basically comparing to pretty similar people.
