Are most Pagans anti-religion?

I certainly have no intention of painting all Pagans with the same broad brush, we are very diverse group. I think a lot of Pagans came to whichever Pagan religion they are because they were called by their gods, or they found a strong, deep connection to the beliefs and practices in that religion. I also think that a lot of Pagans gravitated to a specific Pagan religion or fall into a more “Eclectic Pagan” title for reasons that include being opposed to organized religion. Many solitary Wiccans fit into this category as do a lot of Goddess worshipers. Many of them also have theological differences with most notably Christianity. But I think their main complaint are things like hierarchy, rules, structure, and political atmosphere of organized religion. These are the things I’ve heard said by those who oppose organized religion at least.

Well it’s not that I’m anti-religion but for me it’s not the right path. It is the path for others so they walk it. Religions can be dangerous because of the power the followers give to their leaders. Some go unchecked and they cause trouble. Religions can be destructive when people say they follow the bible yet they only follow the parts that they think proves them to be right or to have power over others. Religion is not something I want to follow. I connect to Spirit without it and I don’t need a middleman telling me what to do.

Sorry, I don’t understand the “anti-religious” comment. We like some religions and not others. It’s mainly just the Abrahamic or monotheistic religions that Pagans are most likely to object to, and those are only a small handful of the many hundreds of religions on earth. (And the main reason we might object to those religions is because they object to us, and often in quite hostile ways.) So, let’s say many pagans would object to 1% of the religions out there, tops. But the Abrahamic or bible religions generally object to ALL non-monotheistic religions; and that is like 99% of the world’s religions. So it would be much more accurate to say that the bible religions and their followers are “anti-religion” than to say that of Pagans and pagan religions. Some pagans dislike organized religions even if they’re pagan, because they prefer a more personal approach to religion, where they can create their own unique spiritual path. But many pagans, myself included, do belong to specific religi
