Are we as Black people so eager to have a Black president that we are overlooking facts?

Some facts: Obama refuses to salute the flag. His wife was only “truly proud” of America once her husband became a candidate. They raised their children in a church that curses America. They were involved with Rezko, a crooked real estate broker, currently on trial for corruption. He said about Farrakhan that he can’t criticize someone who “calls me a good guy.” He called his Granny “a typical white person.” Until I learned these things, I was really excited over his candidacy. Now, it seems, he’s no different from any other politician and certainly less experienced. In addition, he lacks judgment. Can you imagine what would happen to a white candidate if they called their grandmother “a typical black person?

I can understand why the the black community would want a black president but honestly you cannot use race to base your decision as to who you are going to vote for you have to vote based on the notion of you you think will be the best president and will help to improve your lives

I am surprised at you Semper Fi. The guy isn’t running on a race card at all. In fact he has hardly run on race at all. Whatever the situation was with his Pastor was he is away from it. He is a young man who is truly trying to bring CHANGE to an OLD government that needs new air breathed into it. The old antics of government do not fit in with today’s life. We need changes to keep up with the life of today. I am not by any means saying he is the best candidate for President but by saying he is running truly based on race or deserves the Presidency based on race isn’t true. Take a close look at the true facts the other candidates are running on and I think you will find ALL of them are pretty much running on empty. I would think that as an African American man you WOULD at least support a man of color. This is a first, an African American man running for President and getting this far. My question to you is…..why are you turning your thumb down?

You have presented an exceptional question which clearly shows objectivity. In many ways we need a black president because it would show that we could put racial differences aside. I have posted many times on YA that I would readily vote for former U.S. Congressman, J.C. Watts of Oklahoma. Mr. Watts is black. He is also a conservative. Senator Obama does not fill that bill for me because his values are not mine and there is a chasm of philosophical differences that I do not have with Mr. Watts. In direct response to your question, my opinion is exactly what your question implies. Facts are being overlooked and a color bias seems obvious. PS: For once, I have observed your request for “no thumbs down.

It doesn’t matter what the color of our skin is. We should never choose a president based on that. As Americans, we ALL need to do our homework. Don’t go by what we are told on the news. The majority of the news media is biased anyway. Do your own research find out what they stand for, how they have voted on issues, and most importantly what is their background … their family, faith, church leadership. DIG, AND DID until you get the information to make an INTELIGENT choice. All of us should read the Constitution and really try to understand what our great country stands for and was based upon. Our country was based on Christian beliefs and men put in office were followers of Christianity after all that was why our founding fathers left England was it not? Check out your own state’s constitution and see how it is worded. Based on Christian principles. Besides as we so often forget … God is in control. No matter who gets the presidency we are to be praying for that person. If you don
