Can I use Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) bitmap images?

Intaglio supports GIF import, but since GIF is an 8-bit image format it’s important to offer good color table choices when saving a GIF file. For this reason it’s probably better to save a GIF image with an application like GraphicConverter or PhotoShop because they have special functions for selecting the appropriate color table. Another option is to use Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format instead of GIF. Since PNG is a 32-bit format, Intaglio supports it for both import and export.
