Can I use Open Directory group for web app authentication?

Maybe… the big issue is your web app. Apache is already integrated into the Open Directory system for realm-based authentication (you can set this up in Server Admin, just drag the group from the slide-out pane in the Realms tab). If you’re looking for deeper integration with a webapp, though (e.g. where the webapp handles the authentication) then you’ll need to look at the options within your web app language. For example, if you’re using Java or PHP there are LDAP Authentication modules/options for these languages (check out Java and PHP’s LDAP Integration docs). Other webapp systems may have their own LDAP options.
