Can you become a actuary without majoring in actuarial science, i.e. majoring in another math field?
Yes, there are several more steps to becoming an Actuary outside of your post-secondary education. It used to be a sequence of fairly intense math exams (8 of them, one written each six months), but the system has been altered to include more self-study and assignments now. It’s still a lot of work, but is independent of your major. You can learn more about becoming an Actuary from the Society of Actuaries website at http://www.soa.org/.
