Does it hurt when inserting a tampon?
It doesn’t hurt at all. The first few times you use tampons it may take some practice to perfect the art of inserting it at the proper angle and everything. Just go by feel. It’s an unfamiliar feeling, but you should insert it deeply enough that you don’t notice it’s there after a couple minutes. If you can still feel it and it’s not comfortable, take it out and try again. Because it’s that cotton stuff, if you take it out before it’s been saturated, it may be a little uncomfortable. Again it shouldn’t be painful, but if it’s dry then you’ll feel the friction. Tampons are small enough that they shouldn’t break your hymen. If you’re concerned, get the ones that are made for lighter-flow days. These are skinnier than the ones made for heavy flows. They’re a little less noticeable to you too because of the size. You can always wear a pad with it too in case of leaks, at least while you’re figuring out what works best for you.
