I think if you want to be able to communicate effectively you now need to focus on conversational skills (understanding natives and responding.) I think the best course do achieve that goal, is the Pimsleur method. It’s an audio only method that focuses on conversational skills. You will learn to train your ear to understand natives (an essential part of early learning often overlooked by other methods), develop very good pronunciation and acquire the core structures and grammar of the language. I find that it does very well with new students as it is a real confidence builder. It’s really the best method to get you conversing immediately.
