Is our National Language Filipino/Tagalog a result of a Puppet Philippine Government?

0

Tagalog was chosen over other dialects because many people who are not in the Tagalog-speaking regions are influenced by the central government in Manila so though they have their own dialects, they can also understand Tagalog. During the Commonwealth Period, Tagalog was spoken and understood by more people than other dialects (Cebuano was the second). The Commonwealth Government under the leadership of Manuel Quezon saw the importance of unifying the country to prepare it for independence. One way of unifying the country is to have a language that can be understood and spoken by all Filipinos from all places in the Philippines. That’s why they created the Filipino language. Tagalog was then chosen to be the basis of the national language.
