How do i increase breathing control and vocal range?
Breathing when singing isn’t a matter of holding your breath for as long as possible, it’s knowing WHEN to breathe. When you’re studying a song, take a look at the sheet music and make marks on the rests before big long notes and remember to take a big breath there. Know your limit and figure out which rests in the song to breath on so that the notes aren’t interrupted. Also, as you seem to know, breathing out of the diaphragm is important. On those big long notes, you should hold them from the very bottom of your chest, more like your stomach, like you’re pushing air out of a bagpipe, supporting the air control from the bottom of the bag. Remember to fill that BOTTOM of your lungs when breathing in as well. If your taking a big breath into your upper lungs like you do when swimming, it’ll all be gone in ten seconds. Rule of thumb, when you’re breathing into the bottom of your lungs, no matter how full that part gets, it won’t be painful like it would be with the upper lungs. It will j
