How Do You Care For A Toad Lily Plant?
Perennial toad lilies produce exotic-looking flowers in the home garden. While not a true member of the lily family, the shape of the blooms and the growth habit are quite similar. The large flowers are usually white and speckled in brightly colored spots. Toad lilies bloom in late summer, adding color to both summer and fall gardens. They thrive in garden beds in areas with mild winters or can be grown as potted plants and brought indoors for winter in colder climates. Plant toad lilies in well-drained, rich soil. Work a 3-inch layer of compost into garden bed prior to planting or use a potting soil rich in organic matter for potted plants. Water the toad lilies as needed to keep the soil moist, but not soggy, at all times. Water garden beds one to two times a week, providing enough water to moisten the soil to a 6-inch depth.
