How Do You Diagnose A Memory Chip?
Without Random Access Memory (RAM) a computer will not function. The memory in a computer acts as a go-between for the hard drive and the central processing unit (CPU). Since the CPU works very fast it needs at-hand access to information to run programs. The memory allows this to happen. Running programs load information into the memory so the CPU can access it when needed. This process is much quicker and does not overload the hard drive as it would if the CPU needed to wait for the hard drive to supply all the information the CPU requests. Power down your computer and move it so that its CD drives are facing you. Remove the left side panel from the computer case. This panel is attached to the computer case by two Phillips screws that you will need to remove. Then slide the panel away from you toward the back of the computer.
