Packing tape may do a great job of keeping your belongings secure while moving, but it can be a real pain to remove. Residue from the tape will adhere to wood, glass, fabric, ceramic and many other surfaces, creating a sticky situation that will attract dirt, lint and dust. With the right products and a little elbow grease, this sticky residue can be successfully removed from the surfaces of your home. Remove as much of the packing tape as possible. If some of the large pieces of tape are difficult to remove, use a hair dryer to apply medium heat to the stubborn areas. This will loosen the adhesive and make it easier to peel off the tape. It is important not to apply high heat, however, as it will cause the adhesive to separate from the tape, creating a larger mess to clean. Apply a commercial adhesive remover to a clean rag and rub it into the sticky residue.
