How Do You Replace The Valve Cover Gasket In A Chevy Impala?
If you own a Chevy Impala, you know that it offers power and torque. Unfortunately, if your Impala is leaking oil and smoking, power and torque are not your focus. As a preventive measure, replace the valve cover gasket after 100,000 miles. Allow the engine to cool. This can be accomplished by lifting the hood and letting the car sit idle for a while. Remove the battery Terminals. Locate the valve cover gaskets on the left side. Unplug heated oxygen sensor (Ho2S) and manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (Map). Remove Ignition Control Module (ICM) and Ignition Coil wires. Remove valve cover bolts, valve cover and the old gasket. Prepare to replace the valve cover gasket on the right side by locating the right side of the engine and remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. Remove spark plug wires. Unplug camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector. Remove valve cover bolts, valve cover and gasket. Clean the valve cover with the automotive engine cleaner. Install a new valve cover
