How does bioelectrical impedance analysis work?

0

Bioelectrical impedance technology measures conductivity (ohms) of the body. The method is based on the fact that the lean tissue of the body is much more conductive due to it’s higher water content than that of fat tissue. A bioimpedance meter is attached to the body at the extremities (hand and foot) introducing an 800 micro-amp / 50 kilohertz signal that measures the body’s impedance. In simple terms, the more lean tissue present in the body, the greater the conductive potential.
