How does the Berks County text-paging system work?

0

The County has interfaced its computer-assisted dispatch (CAD) system with a specialty software package marketed by a company called Emergin. Users and groups are set up in the Emergin software, and will receive text messages passed from CAD into the paging software. For example, a fire company can have its firefighters placed into a group (e.g.: CO21 represents the Topton Fire Company); whenever a dispatch is made by CAD that includes CO21, each member of the group will receive a text page that includes the type of call and its location.
