How does the emergency contraception intrauterine device work?!?

if your talking about the copper iudit stops any sperm from fertilizing an egg it can be used up to five days after having unprotected sex i had one put in a few years ago and it worked you can also keep it in for up to five years as a form of contraception. i kept it in purely because i had heard of all the horrible side effects of the pill and injection but the only problem i had wa that i kept getting pelvic inflammatory disease one of the side effects of it and if you get it too many times it can make you infertile hope this helps if you need to have one put in and decide you dont want to keep it in you i think you can have it removed once you have your period oh and it hurts like hell! apparently the pain is worse than childbirth! /labour but i doubt that is true i think the nurse was trying to scare me!
