How long will it take for the Authorized Person to receive the results of the criminal history background check?
With the use of LiveScan technology, the turnaround time is significantly less than under the “ink and roll” method, and results are often provided to BCHI within 72 hours. In cases where an applicant has never been fingerprinted before (and thus no background record is available), or the applicant has been previously fingerprinted but has no record of any criminal history, BCHI can share these results with a provider almost immediately.Results with respect to applicants who do have criminal histories require review by BCHI. In some cases, the law also requires that an opportunity be given to the applicant to provide information about rehabilitation and good conduct. Therefore, it takes longer for the provider to obtain results of these reviews from BCHI. However, BCHI tries to review all cases as expeditiously as possible.
