How many days after a period does a woman get fertile?

If your periods occur every 28 days, then ovulation would occur on day 14. The first day of bleeding is day 1. Most women don’t have cycles that regular. If your cycle is longer, say 33 days, then you would ovulate 14 days prior to the start of your next period. It is always 2 weeks from ovulation to the next period. The variable part is the phase of your cycle is from when you start your period until ovulation. With a 28 day cycle, day 14 is right in the middle. With a 30 day cycle, day 16 would be ovulation day. Are you trying to get pregnant or use the rhythm method to prevent pregnancy? If you are trying to prevent, then you need to avoid sex for several days on either side of of the time you would expect to ovulate. Only women with very regular cycles can successfully do the rhythm method and it has a very high failure rate. Hope this helps.
