Although only Windows is officially supported, you can also use embedded on Linux, by using the Classic. There is an easy step-by-step HOWTO available: http://www.firebirdfaq.org/Firebird-Embedded-Linux-HOWTO.html It is written for Firebird 1.5, but works with 2.0 with some minor changes (adding icu .so files).
