I have to ship out to the NAVY on October 27th, 2009. How should I prepare for the weather in Great Lakes, IL?
Weather… don’t worry about it. You’ll get clothes when you get there. Everything you take with you will be boxed and sent home. Dress for cool, probably wet weather..Figure you’re going to get wet and cold. One of the things you learn in the Navy is adaptability. Getting yelled at… You will get yelled at if you make a mistake. That’s to let you know you make a mistake, and that mistakes can have very bad consequences in the Navy. You’ll get yelled at if somebody in your company makes a mistake. That’s to let you know that if one person messes up, it can affect the whole group… you literally sink or swim together. And you’ll get yelled at ieven if you do everything correctly. That’s to get you used to working under pressure. Learning stuff… they give you a lot, but if you go in with the BJM wired, you should be ok. If you learn slowly, you might have to study a little longer and a little harder.
