Is the county required to follow the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act in upcoming reductions in staff? What worked well from the previous reductions in staff?
Pinellas County Government does not fall under the WARN Act. However, we do have a Personnel Rule that requires us to give 15 working days of advance notice to laid-off employees. Last year, employees were given approximately 3 months advance notice. We will notify employees as soon as practicable.
