Updating the Firmware improves the operation of the handset and does not affect your ECU software. Handset firmware/software are frequently updated during the development of new cars and ECU applications. Your ECU map is encrypted in the file TUNED.RED on the SD-Card This TUNED.RED file is linked with your car VIN and is not exchangeable. Any attempt to use the handset on another vehicle will result in the vehicle becoming immobilised. It is not necessary to update your handset if it is functioning ok unless advised to by the Code:Red Technical support team.
