Astrologists use the position of planets to predict the optimal time for conception. They use astronomical algorithms for calculations and are often able to get good results. Whereas the first method is purely mathematical and anyone with decent math skills is able to obtain the right result, the second method is not purely scientific. Astrologists interpret the position of planets in their attempts to categorize risk factors. This is an art of interpretation and results will depend heavily on an astrologists qualification. One needs to be very careful with such predictions. This is similar to the art of medicine: one physician can diagnose better than another, but physicians, unlike astrologists, are required to be certified.
