What is a Teppanyaki griddle?
In Japanese, the word “teppanyaki” comes from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled or pan-fried. Teppanyaki is one of the most popular ways of food preparation in Japanese cuisine. Food is cooked directly in the centre of a heated surface right in front of the customers, while the side parts of the griddle are used to keep the food warm. CASTA’s Teppanyaki griddles are custom-designed and made to measure, allowing the client to choose the dimensions of the cooking plate, the number of burners and electric elements he/she wants to include. The particular thermal characteristics of this chrome griddle mean that cooking takes place only when the food is actually in contact with the griddle, thus saving energy and avoiding useless dispersion of heat.
