What is Severe Weather Child Care?
Duke University Health System offers a Severe Weather Child Care program to provide eligible staff employed by participating entities with quality and convenient child care Duke’s Severe Weather & Emergency Conditions Policy. The benefit is intended to help eligible staff manage the demands of work and family during periods of severe weather when regular child care arrangements may be unavailable. The Severe Weather Child Care program is managed by Bright Horizons Family Solutions, one of the premier managers of child care centers worldwide. Children are cared for in temporary child care rooms established during the period of activation. The program includes experienced instructors, meals and age-appropriate activities for children age 3 to 14. (All children must be potty trained.) This program is only offered when Duke’s Severe Weather & Emergency Conditions Policy is activated and is not determined by the closing of area school districts or child care centers.
