What is the best aerobic exercise to burn fat?
Any cardiovascular activity that increases your heart rate to the fat-burning zone will be an effective way to lose weight. Your target heart rate (or THR) is a desired range of heart rates that you must reach during exercise to maximize calorie burn. THR is generally calculated as such:
220 – [your age] x 0.65 = THR beats per minute
Any aerobic exercise that causes you to reach your target heart rate for a sustained period of time will help to burn fat. Ideally, at least 30 minutes a day of cardiovascular exercise is recommended. High-intensity workouts such as running, kickboxing, swimming, rowing, stair stepping or biking are usually vigorous enough to raise your heart rate to the THR. For optimal results, combine these activities with weight training 3-5 times a week to maximize fat burn and sculpt your body.
This will vary from person to person. When doing cardio, it should feel comfortable to the body and be an exercise that you enjoy. Then you focus on frequency, duration and intensity. When it comes to intensity, you need to be in your Target Heartrate Zone. As long as you are in your THR and you are doing an exercise that you like and it feels okay on your body, you are heading in the right direction.
