What is the difference between Layers pellets, Growers pellets and Rearers pellets?
Hi, Poultry food is graded by protein levels and other things it contains. To start with, Chick Crumbs are formulated to feed chicks of course, so needs to be a higher level of protein for growth, unless it’s organic, it will probably contain medication to stop chicks from getting Coccidiosis (acs). With chickens, Chick crumbs are fed to birds under a month old. At about a month old, your growing chicks need extra protein so they move on to a grower pellet or meal, and are fed this mixture to the age of 18 weeks old.Rearing pellets is just a different name for the same product. At 18 weeks old, pullets are maturing faster and need different minerals like calcium, they don’t need as much protein so the food (layers mash/pellets) are formulated. Remember, if your feeding poultry you really need to feed the correct food at the correct times, always read the labels that come with the bags to see if this food is suitable for the purpose.
