What is the difference between Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Positioning?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of planning, designing, copywriting, and coding your entire web site, link building, and submitting to the Internet search engines and directories so that your website will appear on the 1st page of the results for “targeted keyword phrases. Search engine positioning (SEP) is often used as a synonym of SEO but the emphasis is placed on the result of the Search Engine Optimization process. Search engines ultimately determine where they will “rank” or “position” a website for a particular keyword search. However, strong positioning for strategically selected keyword phrases can be obtained through a sound knowledge of how search engines work. Search Engine positioning usually refers to the “organic listings” or “unpaid listings” sections of the search engines.
