What is the judging process?
As we receive the submissions, they’ll be input into our database and a subscription will be set up to Performing Songwriter to start with the May 2005 issue. Then the songs are routed through the editorial staff, assigned a grade based on a number, and then forwarded to the esteemed Songwriter101.com faculty of music industry professionals who will then choose the scholarship winners.
Three first round judges review each entry submitted to the Collegiate Inventors Competition. To ensure blind scoring, the judges do not meet or collaborate with each other in scoring the entries. Their collective scores and rankings along with data collected by an independent researcher are used by the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation to determine the finalists. All finalists meet individually with the final panel of judges for formal presentation of their inventions. Students entertain questions from the panel. After all the finalists have made their presentations, the panel deliberates and selects the Undergraduate Winner, Graduate Winner, and Grand Prize Winner. The judges’ decision is final.
Once we’ve kicked out the disturbing and inappropriate entries, remaining submissions will go through to a three phase judging process. Phase I – a list of films will be selected by the Film Festival organisors. Phase II – Most successful films in terms of public reaction will be viewed and assessed by the Film Festival judging panel. The judging panel is made up of experts from the world of movies, motion capture and experts in the creative use of animation and technology gurus.
