When I configure HyperIP to optimize Replication or Backup, what segment size setting should I use for the WAN?

The segment size is the amount of data that HyperIP buffers and sends over the WAN. The default is 32768 Bytes which means the data is fragmented to flow over the link. When running over slower links (lower than 45Mb/s) or using a VPN, a segment size of 1300 is recommended. This size will avoid HyperIP sending fragmented packets and allow for additional VPN overhead. For links over 45Mb/s the recommended action would be to run the segment size test allowing each pass a minimum of 60 seconds. A segment test from the HyperIP console will help you determine the best segment size to use for you specific WAN configuration.
