I’ve been to almost all the wine bars in chicago and this one is the best by far!!!! The wine list is very extensive and reasonably priced, they have a full menu until 10 or 11 to have a great dinner with a date or friends, and the atmosphere and space are amazing. (High lofted ceilings 2 fire places and one of the best music selections in the city.) Contrary to what other posts have said, the service has been top-notch every one of the several times I’ve been. One of the biggest differences I see with the D.O.C. as compared with other places is that it’s not a snobby place only about wine. They have a great beer list and a full bar so you see a variety of different people all having a good time even if they didn’t come for the fantastic wine selection. 6 Stars!!!! Pros + Wine, Food, Service, MusicCons – Only fits 100 people

Next week is going to suck! See, this week I really spoiled myself with two excellent prix fixe dinners. A few days after popping my Restaurant Week cherry, I ventured to Kinzie Chophouse to dine with some Yelp girlfriends. Kinzie is featuring their Winter Delights prix fixe special, which runs until March 19th. $20 gets you a choice of 2 salads, a choice of 4 entrees and a choice of 3 desserts. For my meal I went with the Chophouse salad, herb-crusted salmon, and chocolate cake. The salad was fine, a simple mixed green salad with a balsamic dressing. My entree was a generous serving of salmon over mustard sauce with a side of broccoli. The salmon was well prepared; it was both flavorful and moist. My only complaint about my entree is that I wish the mustard sauce had more kick, I found it to err on the bland side. To cap off my meal I went with the chocolate cake, it was so good! The cake was warm, with a soft, gooey center and chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. My plate was garni

We went to Volo mainly because it is the only place in Chicago that has roasted marrow bones, but everything else turned out to be fantastic too. The wine list is broad and there are a number of very reasonably priced bottles. The food was wonderful, the marrow bones were especially great as were the mussels and the corn soup (which I’m still thinking about a day later). The port flight was also wonderful, you might think it is pricey at $30, but well worth it and plenty for two to share as an after dinner flight. The last thing I should mention is the service, it was fantastic. Out waitress was attentive and very cheerful despite the crowd. When we asked for some salt for the bones they brought us a number of interesting varieties which was a wonderful surprise. I will certainly be returning to Volo!Pros + Great Food, Nice Wine Prices, Wonderful ServiceCons – Can be a little loud
