Which ice skates are better to buy?
Since you are just starting out (again), I would go to your rink’s pro shop and check out their skates first. If you are in skate classes, you can get a 10%-15% discount off of merchandise in the shop at that rink. I agree with the other answers – either Riedells or Jacksons are good beginner skates and will take you through your basic levels. Once you get to FS1, you should think about getting custom boots. Why waste your money on another pair of cheap skates. Since you state you want to make a career of it, go to custom at this time. You can even go to custom now. You won’t be wasting money since you will keep these skates for a while, and you’ll work on breaking them in as you get your basic skills back. Harlick, SPTeri and Klingbeil all make good custom skates that I have seen. A good blade that will take you from alpha to FS4 is the MK Pro blade.
