why does a BMW M3 bunny hops in 2nd and 3rd gear so much sometimes??

I’ve got a BMW M3 with SMG II gearbox and the latest 2006 software. Seems to be jerky on moderate speed take offs. Upshifting helps a bit . Throttle seems top make things worst. A: It isn’t a bunny hop. Bunny hopping is the rear axle losing contact with ground, which is pretty much cured by an independent rear suspension. There is a known “bucking” issue. Basically, the throttle is sensitive enough that if you hit a bump as you’re starting, the lighter pressure caused by your foot bouncing back will cause the care to slow, pushing your foot forward, causing the car to lurch, which pushes you back, causing the car to slow again, etc. Higher gears lessen the sensitivity – this usually happens in 1st gear. As for what to do, if you’ve got Sport mode enabled, turn it off. After driving the car for a while, you learn to modulate your starts with SMG a little better, but it still happens from time to time. If it does, upshifting cures the problem.
