The problem is that while laptop hardware is getting a little smaller, and more heat efficient (therefor doesn’t need as much open air space around them to cool or as large of fans to circulate the air) the computer still needs a LOT of energy to power it. It is like in a desktop, they have rather large power supplies if you ever have looked in one. They require such big power supplies because the computer its self requires a lot of energy. Laptop chargers need to do what those power supplies in a desktop do, except with less space and usually without a fan to cool it (which is one of the reasons laptop power cords have short life spans) and a big challenge right now to laptop hardware manufacturers is that there just isn’t a viable way to put better hardware in the laptop because of heat/power issues.
