    Parsons School of Design is located in New York City and provides study abroad in summer and has an exchange program available for one year with partnering institutes at other destinations nationally. Getting into the program to study abroad builds language skill and a cultural awareness. In order to qualify for admission, a prospective student must carry at least a 2.8 grade point average. If a student is on disciplinary or academic probation they won’t qualify for any study programs abroad. A letter of recommendation, course of study, and a personal statement must be submitted with their application. It is recommended that a student get a foreign grant or exchange program. These programs are open to any student that is entered in graphic arts and other programs as well. 

    Course Types

    Courses provide the students a hands-on type of training and can be used for fulfilling course or credit requirements. Students are able to study in class or online to attain their associate degree in Fashion Marketing. A Fast Track program is available for students to finish in two semesters instead of the two year program. Some exchange institutes include Konstfack in Stockholm, ChelseaCollegeof Art and Design in London, DomusAcademyin Milan, and SydneyCollegeof the Arts in Australia. Other study destinations are located in Copenhagen, Paris, and Rome.

    History and Programs

    Parsons School of Design, founded in 1896 by William Chase, the school was once called ChaseSchool, honoring the founder and became Parsons in 1970. It now offers a host of diplomas and degrees including design, architecture, management, and photography. Continuing education programs offer classes in fine arts, graphic and digital design. Three fashion degrees are offered in studies, marketing, and design. The design degree has classes in fashion history themes, machine knitting, and fashion drawing. The cost of entering is $37,610.00 but scholarships are offered by the Parsons School of Design which include Stella Blum Research Grant, Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship, and the Woman’s Studio Workshop.
