The Royal Newlyweds Start Their First Official Tour

Just two months after exchanging wedding vows in a spectacular ceremony, the world’s most famous newlyweds, Prince William and his bride, Kate, started their first official overseas tour.  The North America tour will include stops in 8 cities in 11 days.  On June 30th, they arrived in Canada for the first leg of their tour which will be followed by a visit to Southern California.  William and Kate will take part in Canada Day celebrations which includes attending a citizenship ceremony where they will hand out flags to new Canadians.  They will make stops in Montreal, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec City where sitting around a campfire with young people and attending a cookout is part of their agenda.   On July 8th the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will fly to Los Angeles where they will be hosts of a gala dinner attended by Hollywood elite and celebrities.  The attendees of this dinner will enjoy a $4,000 three course meal cooked by Giada De Laurentiis, contributor for the TODAY show.  The next day Prince William will take part in a polo match where Kate will award the trophy to the winning team.  So far, $4.4 million dollars have been raised for this event where about 1,000 VIP tickets and 400 general admissions passes have been sold.  The royal couple are sure to attract a large crowd of fans who hope to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds.
